The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, personally inspected the implementation of the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) programme in Purwakarta Regency, West Java, on Friday, 2 October 2026.

The inspection was carried out to ensure that President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programme is running according to its objectives and is truly reaching the communities in need.

Tito reviewed the execution of the BSPS programme in Pamoyanan Village, Plered District, Purwakarta Regency. During the visit, the Minister of Home Affairs was accompanied by the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait.

The two ministers directly observed the condition of the residents’ houses proposed to receive assistance. In addition to checking the physical condition of the buildings, Tito and Maruarar also engaged in dialogue with several prospective aid recipients.

Two residents met during the visit were Eti Nurhayati and Amung.

Checking Residents’ House Conditions

While conversing with Eti Nurhayati, Tito introduced Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait as the official entrusted to handle the house renovation programme.

“This is Mr Maruarar Sirait, the Minister of Housing, who has been entrusted by the President to repair your house,” Tito said during the dialogue with Eti Nurhayati.

Eti expressed her happiness that the home she shares with her family has received government attention. Based on field verification conducted by the Ministry of PKP, Eti’s house was deemed to meet several criteria for receiving assistance through the BSPS programme.

The condition of the house showed several damages requiring repair, including a fragile roof frame. Furthermore, parts of the walls were damaged, and the roof tiles were in poor condition, causing leaks during rainfall. These factors were key considerations in the verification process for potential recipients.

Maruarar Emphasises Aid Must Be Targeted Correctly

Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait stated that the direct inspection was conducted to ensure that aid recipients strictly meet the established criteria. According to Maruarar, the physical condition of the house alone is not sufficient grounds for providing assistance. The profile of the potential recipients must also be examined to ensure government programmes are not allocated to the wrong parties.

“I do not want this to be misdirected. We must not have well-maintained houses or those belonging to middle-class or wealthy individuals being repaired while they are still in good condition. That is why we checked their profiles earlier,” Maruarar asserted.
