Interior Minister Reveals WFH Policy for One Day per Week to Be Officially Announced Tomorrow
Interior Minister (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian stated that the policy of working from home or WFH for one day per week will be announced by the government tomorrow. The Interior Ministry does not wish to preempt the announcement of the specific WFH day.
“Just be patient, be patient, I hear it’s very likely, possibly, it will be officially announced tomorrow. So I don’t want to preempt it,” Tito said after a working meeting with Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (30/3/2026).
Tito mentioned that after the official announcement, there will be directives to local governments. Nevertheless, he does not want to preempt the decision on the WFH day.
“It will be announced tomorrow,” he said.
The government is formulating the one-day-per-week WFH as a step towards fuel efficiency due to the war in the Middle East (Timteng). Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the decision has been set this week.
“The main point is that it has been decided this week,” said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in receiving US businessman Ray Dalio at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Friday (27/3).
Airlangga said the government will soon announce the WFH day for government employees. Airlangga assessed that the announcement of the WFH day will not extend beyond March.
“As soon as possible, there are only a few days left in this month anyway. So there’s still time,” Airlangga said.
