Jakarta — Interior Minister Tito Karnavian has assured that all victims of floods and landslides in Aceh will receive temporary housing (huntara).

“The existing temporary housing, as estimated by BNPB, is considered sufficient to accommodate evacuees transitioning from tents to facilities in Aceh Tamiang, Central Aceh, and East Aceh,” Tito said after attending a limited meeting at the Defence Ministry office on Tuesday.

Tito explained that the government has been working to construct proper housing for disaster victims in Aceh. Both permanent and temporary housing are being built by various agencies and ministries, including BNPB.

Although the distribution of temporary housing has been relatively widespread, Tito acknowledged that several locations previously lacked such facilities. “In North Aceh, there is a village called Bukit Linteng in Langkahan District, which initially had no temporary housing constructed, but the Ministry of Public Works has now built it. Public Works has promised to finish by 19 March at 23:00,” Tito said.

Tito urged the provincial government and BNPB to accelerate temporary housing construction so that all evacuees in those areas can secure adequate shelter. “So they must move in on the evening of 23 March or the morning of 24 March,” Tito said.
