Jakarta – The iCar V23 stands as one of the most compelling electric SUVs currently in the Indonesian automotive market. The vehicle represents the second battery electric SUV to emerge following the Chery J6.

I had the opportunity to test drive the iCar V23 for several days, shortly after its launch at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026 in February.

Having previously covered the exterior design, this examination now extends to the interior and cabin area.

The interior does not appear excessive, yet remains modern and functional, consistent with the boxy-styled electric SUV concept it embodies.

Simple Dashboard

The iCar V23’s dashboard layout appears clean and horizontal. The design lines are straight, following the character of the angular exterior.

Materials are dominated by dark colours, with some yellow accent contrasts on the air conditioning vents that provide a fresh touch.

In the centre sits a large touchscreen display in a floating stand model. This screen serves as the control centre for various features, ranging from the entertainment system to vehicle information.

Notably, below the screen there remain conventional physical buttons and a rotary knob for air conditioning adjustment. The presence of these conventional controls allows the driver to make adjustments without constantly touching the screen.

The steering wheel features a three-spoke design with simple styling and multifunction buttons on both sides. The digital instrument panel is integrated within the main screen, displaying information such as transmission position and vehicle visuals.

Interestingly, the standard vehicle lacks an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. This area is empty, and the driver can view vehicle data on the central dashboard screen.

Functional and Robust
