Interest in Used Electric Cars Surges at JBA Indonesia Auction House in 2026
JAKARTA, KOMPA.com – Public interest in electrified vehicles within the used-car market continues to rise, including at auction houses. In early 2026, the contribution of electric and hybrid vehicles at PT JBA Indonesia’s auction house has become more visible, both in the number of models auctioned and the rate of successful sales.
Deny Gunawan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of JBA Indonesia, said that interest in electrified vehicles at the JBA auction house showed considerable growth compared with the previous year.
‘In January 2025, sales of electric vehicles were dominated by the Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV Signature EXN and IONIQ EV 4x2 AT,’ he told Kompas.com on Wednesday (4 March 2026).
‘As we moved into January 2026, the range of models diversified, including the Wuling Cloud EV, Air EV Lite, Air EV Standard Range, and the Binguo EV Long Range AC and Binguo EV Premium Range,’ he said.
Of these, the sold ratio reached 41 percent, indicating a positive market response to used electric cars.
In addition to fully electric vehicles, hybrid cars have also seen a notable uptick in demand.
In January 2026, JBA auctioned seven hybrid models with a sold ratio of 47 percent. That figure rose sharply compared with the same period in January 2025, when the sold ratio for hybrids was around 33 percent.
‘These data show that electrified vehicles, particularly hybrids, are gaining stronger acceptance in the auction market than in the previous year,’ Deny said.
