Bandung (ANTARA) – Anggito Abimanyu, chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), said public interest and enthusiasm for researching LPS’s duties and functions had risen significantly.

This was reflected in more than 700 entries for the LPS Call for Research 2026 (LPS CFR 2026). After a rigorous selection process, 35 finalists were chosen.

“This year, the enthusiasm has been very encouraging: more than 700 participants entered the competition, and 35 finalists were selected through a rigorous process,” Anggito said in a statement in Bandung on Sunday.

Participation in the research competition, now in its seventh year, has consistently increased year on year.

Anggito said the large number of participants—from academics, researchers and professionals to members of the public—was a positive sign for strengthening the national research ecosystem, particularly research focused on financial-system stability and bolstering public confidence.

“We are proud that public interest in research, especially into LPS’s role and functions, is growing. We hope the best work will not remain merely as competition submissions. Let us develop it into practical input for LPS policy, stronger public confidence and faster national economic growth that improves welfare,” he said.

He said the best research not only answers scientific questions but also helps address the nation’s challenges.

With artificial intelligence (AI) being used widely, LPS said digital tools could support the research process but must not replace critical thinking, academic integrity or researchers’ full responsibility for their work.

The competition also serves as a strategic bridge between academia, industry and policymakers, fostering innovation and objective, independent and integrity-driven ideas for formulating national financial-sector policy.
