Chair of the Baltic Committee of Kadin Indonesia, Adriana Sri Lestari, has revealed a significant upward trend in interest from various parties in Indonesia, both public and private sectors, seeking to learn about Estonia’s digitalisation system. Adriana stated that over the last decade, Estonia has become the primary reference for Indonesian delegations wishing to delve into IT-based governance, cybersecurity, and smart city development.

“Because the need for Estonia in the IT field has been felt. So, for the past 10 years, there have been many delegations, both private and government, learning from Estonia,” said Adriana when met at the Estonia Maritime Industry Business Mission to Indonesia event at the Grand Hyatt on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Adriana explained that this interest spans various strategic sectors, from transportation to medical services. She mentioned that Estonia provides numerous learning platforms, from conferences to specialised courses in cybersecurity that are regularly attended by Indonesian delegations.

One tangible proof of the success of adopting knowledge from the Baltic country is the digital transformation in the Sumedang Regency Government.

“They (Sumedang) learned a lot, one of which was from Estonia. And now Sumedang’s government system is very IT-oriented,” she said.

This increasing interest now extends to the maritime and infrastructure sectors. In the latest bilateral meetings, several institutions such as Bakamla, Pelni, and Pertamina are exploring deeper collaborations regarding knowledge transfer in navigation technology and maritime cybersecurity. Adriana emphasised that this high enthusiasm is driven by Estonia’s position as one of the countries with the most advanced digital systems in the world.

Kadin Indonesia is committed to continuing to facilitate business meetings (business forums) and Business-to-Business (B2B) cooperation so that this learning process can produce real solutions for national efficiency.
