Intercity Drug Courier Arrested by Bekasi City Police with 2kg Cannabis Seized

The Narcotics Unit of the Bekasi City Metropolitan Police has uncovered a drug trafficking ring dealing in cannabis, which was intended for distribution in the Bekasi City area, West Java. A man with the initials GAG (26), suspected of being a courier for the intercity network, has been arrested. The Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Bekasi City Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Untung Riswaji, revealed that the arrest began with information regarding drug transactions in the border area between Bekasi and East Jakarta. A team from Unit 2 Sub 1 of the Narcotics Unit of the Bekasi City Metropolitan Police, led by Inspector Dwi Bayu Prihartono, investigated the case intensively until they were able to identify GAG’s location on Jalan Utan Kayu Raya, Matraman, East Jakarta, on Sunday evening (22nd February). During the search, police found cannabis in brown packaging weighing 2 kilograms. “During the search, officers found two large packages containing cannabis in pressed packaging, with a gross weight of 2,059.66 grams, or approximately 2 kilograms,” said Commissioner Untung on Wednesday (25th February 2026). Based on initial questioning, the suspect admitted to obtaining the illicit goods from a person with the initials I, who also resides in East Jakarta. The identity of the supplier has now been identified by the police and is on the list of wanted persons. The suspect, GAG, is being charged under Article 114, paragraph (2), in conjunction with Article 111, paragraph (2), of Indonesian Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a maximum penalty as amended by Law No. 1 of 2026.
