Inter-Provincial Bus Passengers Yet to Peak During 2026 Eid al-Fitr

JAKARTA – Passenger movement on inter-city inter-provincial (AKAP) buses during Eid al-Fitr 2026 has not yet shown a significant surge. The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub DKI Jakarta) noted that activity at several major terminals is still tending to be flat compared to the same period last year. Based on data up to Friday, 20 March 2026 at 15:00 WIB, the number of passengers at seven major terminals in Jakarta has not experienced a significant increase. Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, revealed that the most visible passenger movement activity is at two major terminals. “The highest activity is seen at the Integrated Pulo Gebang Terminal and Kampung Rambutan, which are the main points of passenger movement,” said Syafrin in a written statement (20/3/2026). Although these figures are quite large, the movement trend still shows a decline compared to the previous year. Syafrin explained that compared to the same period during Eid al-Fitr 2025, there was a decrease in the number of passengers for both arrivals and departures. “Overall, the passenger decline is recorded at 3.85 percent compared to the 2025 period. Dishub DKI Jakarta continues to monitor this movement in relation to the peak of the Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow,” he said. This condition indicates that although the homecoming period has been underway, AKAP bus passenger movement has not yet reached its peak. Dishub DKI Jakarta is still continuing to monitor to anticipate the possibility of a passenger surge in the following days.
