Intensify Construction of People's School, Dody Requests Additional Workers

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has requested additional workers to expedite the construction of Phase II of the People’s School (SR) in Sampang Regency, East Java Province.

“Please ensure the quality of the work is maintained. If possible, add more workers to speed up progress, as the finishing stage is usually the most challenging. It must be prepared from now,” explained Dody, as quoted by Kompas.com on Monday (13/4/2026).

As of 10 April 2026, the physical progress of the construction has reached 36.05 percent, supported by more than 520 workers intensively working to meet the completion target on 20 June 2026.

Dody emphasised the importance of maintaining work quality alongside the acceleration of on-site construction implementation.

He also encouraged the addition of manpower so that the construction process can proceed more quickly, especially approaching the final stage, which is considered the most challenging.

The project is being carried out by the East Java Strategic Infrastructure Implementation Unit with the implementing contractor WASKITA–CAG KSO.

During the inspection, Dody stated that the basic infrastructure support in the school area has been running well.

“Water is fully supplied from PDAM (Regional Water Supply Company), electricity is also starting to be installed. There are around 520 workers, even working until 2 a.m.,” he said.

SR Phase II Sampang is designed as an integrated educational area covering primary, junior high, and senior high school levels with a capacity of up to 1,000 students.

The facilities being built include classrooms, student dormitories, teacher apartments, a mosque, canteen, multipurpose building, and sports facilities such as an assembly field, football field, and basketball court.

Dody also highlighted the readiness of the area’s facilities, including the sports fields, which he deemed representative.

“The football field has also been prepared, approximately 3 hectares,” he added.

Through the construction of SR Phase II, the Ministry of Public Works hopes to improve access to decent and quality education for the community, while supporting human resource development in Sampang Regency and surrounding areas.
