Intense Eid Return Traffic, Truck Drivers Blockade Gilimanuk Port
The congestion of Eid return traffic at Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi has impacted Gilimanuk Port in Bali. Several three-axle truck drivers blockaded the LCM dock at Gilimanuk on Monday (30/3/2026) as a form of protest against the implementation of the Tiba Bongkar Berangkat (TBB) scheme.
This action occurred around 11:36 WITA. The drivers parked their trucks transversely in the dock area, thereby obstructing the loading and unloading process. As a result, vehicles that had just arrived from Ketapang were temporarily held and unable to disembark from the ship.
The protest was triggered by the TBB policy applied to accelerate the dispersal of queues at Ketapang Port. Under this scheme, ships arriving at Gilimanuk are only permitted to unload cargo and then return to Ketapang without loading vehicles from Bali.
“The incident did happen this morning. They were protesting the TBB implementation, so vehicles from Gilimanuk could not be loaded,” stated Bintang Felfian, the Public Relations Manager of ASDP for the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing, when contacted by detikBali on Monday.
Bintang explained that ASDP was merely adhering to regulations set by the Land Transportation Management Agency (BPTD) for the overall smooth flow of return traffic.
“ASDP is following BPTD’s policy. What we can do is educate and calm the service users,” he added.
After mediation and on-site policy adjustments, the blockade action finally ended. Port authorities eventually allowed the held trucks to board the ships and cross to Java.
“Now everything is back to normal. It was handled earlier, and the vehicles were finally loaded for crossing,” Bintang concluded.
