Intense Competition Makes Online Job Fairs an Alternative for Hunting Vacancies

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Amidst increasingly tight job competition and the shift to digital lifestyles, online job fairs are now a popular alternative, considered more practical, quick, and flexible in searching for vacancies. Digital platforms like OLX bring this more practical approach through the OLX Job Fair Online 2026, which runs from 11-26 April 2026. This programme offers a more flexible and inclusive job-hunting experience. “Looking at the continuously evolving labour market dynamics, this year OLX is holding the OLX Job Fair Online with the ease of 3C: Search for job vacancies, then directly Chat if interested in the available positions, and finally directly Send your CV through the OLX platform,” said OLX Director Agung Iskandar in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday. Agung said this process cuts down on lengthy recruitment stages and makes interactions feel quicker and more personal. He described this approach as an effort to provide concrete solutions amid labour market dynamics. According to him, easy access and direct communication can help job seekers be more agile in capturing opportunities. Data from the Ministry of Manpower records more than 8,000 workers affected by layoffs in the first quarter of 2026, driving many people to be more adaptive in seeking new opportunities. Not only that, post-Lebaran trends also show a significant surge in job search activity. In the third week after Lebaran, the number of job seekers increased by more than 140 per cent compared to during Lebaran. Looking deeper, the average number of job seekers in the first quarter of this year reached more than 523,000 people on OLX. Most of them are targeting administrative positions, marketing sales, freelance workers, drivers, and shop assistants. However, behind the ease of access, competition remains intense. With only around 43,000 vacancies available, one job position can be contested by up to 12 people. The areas providing the most job vacancies are Jabodetabek, West Java, East Java, North Sumatra, and Bali. Meanwhile, the most job seekers come from Jabodetabek, West Java, East Java, Central Java, and Banten. This situation also changes job search strategies. No longer just submitting applications, job seekers are now required to be more responsive and proactive. “Through this year’s Online Job Fair, OLX is optimistic about providing a broader impact for job seekers and accelerating local economic turnover,” he concluded.
