Inten chips in for housing project

DILI, East Timor: The minister of social services, Inten Soeweno, has donated Rp 750 million (US$312,500) to a project to build houses for the poor in Comoro village, West Dili district, Antara said.

The head of East Timor Social Services Department, Rela Bakti Karokaro, told Antara Wednesday that the donation was in response to a request by priest Manuel Fraille.

Manuel, Comoro's long-time spiritual leader, felt that many of his flock were poor people working on farms owned by Portuguese descendants, Rela said. They live in houses built on hill slopes which were prone to flood during the rainy season, according to the priest. (10)
