Intelligence warns US-Iran conflict could involve China and Russia
Istanbul - Several days after the US-Israel war against Iran erupted, US intelligence has warned that the conflict could widen following indications of China and Russia aiding Iran, according to CBS News on Thursday (16/4).
Analysts at the US Defense Intelligence Agency at that time assessed that China is considering supplying advanced radar systems to Iran.
Several US officials said the system includes X-band radar technology that can enhance Iran’s ability to detect low-flying drones and cruise missiles, as well as strengthen its air defence against sophisticated attacks.
It is not yet confirmed whether the delivery has occurred, but this assessment reflects growing US concerns that the conflict could involve major powers through indirect military support.
Officials also said Russia has shared intelligence on US military positions in the Middle East.
The US and Israel launched attacks against Iran on 28 February, which triggered retaliatory strikes and increased regional tensions.
Efforts to stabilise the situation and achieve a permanent ceasefire are reportedly still underway.
