Intellectual property valuers to help creative economy players access subsidised loans
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that intellectual property (IP) valuers can help creative economy players access the government’s People’s Business Credit (KUR) scheme.
“IP valuation services can be used for commercial loans in general, meaning based on need, but they can also provide support for the absorption of IP-based creative industry KUR provided by the government, amounting to Rp10 trillion in 2026,” Riefky said in Jakarta on Wednesday at the inauguration ceremony for intellectual property valuers.
The IP-based KUR scheme provides loans of Rp500 million per entrepreneur at interest rates of three to six per cent per annum.
Riefky explained that the scheme was designed to deliver more inclusive and sustainable financing support, as well as to boost credit disbursement to the creative economy sector to Rp10 trillion.
Under the IP-based credit scheme, he said, intellectual property assets belonging to creative economy players can be used as supporting collateral when applying for bank credit.
With IP valuation services, creative assets such as IP, brands and patents across 17 creative economy subsectors are expected to be usable for accessing funding.
“With increasingly robust valuation infrastructure, intellectual property is expected to gain greater recognition as a high-value economic asset capable of driving national economic growth,” Riefky said.
He added that creative economy players can take advantage of the government’s KUR services to develop their intellectual property.
The government is working to improve access to financing for creative economy players, including by issuing regulations that make it easier for business operators to access credit services.
