Intel offers SME solutions to retailers
YOGYAKARTA: Some 140 computer retailers from Yogyakarta participated in the recent Intel Channel Conference held at the city's Melia Purosani Hotel.
Speaking to journalists ahead of the conference, Intel Indonesia Area Sales Manager Singgih Adwiarto said the program was part of the computer hardware producer's worldwide small- and medium enterprise (SME) solution campaign, which was officially launched on Oct. 11 via the Internet.
"The program is aimed at providing Intel Channel retailers with knowledge about business solutions it can offer to SMEs to develop their businesses through the use of IT (information technology)," Singgih said.
Small and medium businesses, which are defined as those that have less than 100 employees, according to Singgih, showed a potential market for IT products worldwide. In Indonesia, for example, of the country's 1.9 million SMEs, only 27 percent used computers to develop their businesses.
"That's the second-lowest in the Asia-Pacific after India," said Singgih.
The Intel Channel Conference in Yogyakarta is the second to be held in the country after the Oct. 14 meet in Bandung, West Java.
The next four major cities on Intel's program are Jakarta, Surabaya in East Java), Medan (North Sumatra), Denpasar (Bali), and Makassar (South Sulawesi).
Intel Indonesia says it has some 1,500 retailers throughout the country. -- JP
