Jakarta (ANTARA) – Chipmakers Intel and Qualcomm have reportedly raised prices across various ranges of their central processing units (CPUs), and AMD is expected to follow suit.

According to a Gizmochina report on Tuesday, Intel had previously been expected to raise CPU prices by up to 10 per cent in October 2026. However, a new report by Commercial Times indicates that the increases took effect in September.

Supply-chain sources cited in the report said Intel had raised prices for several CPU lines. Prices for its high-end Panther Lake CPUs are reportedly up by around 15 to 20 per cent.

The Commercial Times report said the increases cover models equipped with high-end integrated graphics processing units (iGPUs).

Prices for Alder Lake and Twin Lake CPUs have reportedly risen by 10 to 20 per cent, while mid-range chips such as Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake have seen increases of around 5 to 10 per cent.

Qualcomm has also reportedly raised prices for its PC processor platforms, including by about 10 per cent for the Snapdragon X and X2 Elite, effective from 1 October 2026.

The price rises by Intel, Qualcomm and AMD are seen as closely linked to moves by Taiwan-based chip manufacturer TSMC, which produces chips for them.

The Taiwanese chipmaker is reportedly set to raise its manufacturing costs again in 2027.

Central News Agency quoted industry analysts as forecasting increases of 5 to 10 per cent for advanced-node technology, 10 to 15 per cent for advanced packaging technology, and 3 to 5 per cent for more mature nodes.

Rising costs for memory and high-performance storage are also adding to the pressure.
