Responding to this transformation, Rika Astuti, a lecturer in Information Technology at Cyber University, emphasised the importance of Project Based Learning and the integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to prepare students for the competitive job market. If previously learning focused on programming theory and simple exercises, students can now study software development in a more modern way through various digital platforms, real project simulations, and online collaboration. According to Rika, one of the main transformations in software engineering learning is the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and AI technology. AI is now being used to help students understand coding through features like auto-complete, automatic debugging, and programming suggestions. This technology allows beginners to grasp programming logic faster and complete application development tasks more effectively. In addition to AI integration, Rika noted that the current learning approach heavily applies Project Based Learning. Students are asked to create real application projects such as school information systems, sales applications, company websites, and mobile apps. This approach is considered effective because students not only understand the theory but also directly experience the process of needs analysis, system design, coding, testing, and implementation, mirroring the actual work environment. The use of digital collaboration tools like GitHub, GitLab, and Visual Studio Code Live Share also trains students in teamwork, communication, and professional project management. Responding to the rapid changes in programming languages, frameworks, and development tools, Rika stressed that lecturers must continuously improve their competence through training, certification, seminars, research, and industry collaboration. This is essential to ensure that the material taught to students remains relevant to job market needs and the latest technological developments. She hopes that the proper use of technology and modern learning support will enable students to build a project portfolio, gain teamwork experience, and understand the latest technologies, making them ready to compete as programmers, system analysts, web developers, mobile developers, or technopreneurs. She stated that the role of the lecturer is key in guiding students to keep up with rapid technological changes. A lecturer is not just a teacher, but also a motivator, mentor, innovator, and character builder. With the support of professional lecturers and the right use of technology, software engineering education will continue to produce creative and competent graduates ready to face the challenges of the global digital era.
