Integration Continues: Danamon and MUFG Propose New Name
The integration of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) with MUFG Bank, Ltd., Jakarta Branch (MUFG Indonesia) has entered a new phase. Both parties have proposed the name PT Bank MUFG Danamon Tbk, or Bank MUFG Danamon, as the identity for the integrated bank.
Danamon and MUFG Indonesia announced the proposed name and logo on Tuesday (6/10/2026). The use of the name Bank MUFG Danamon is still awaiting approval from shareholders, relevant ministries, and the authorised regulators.
If all approvals are obtained, the Bank MUFG Danamon name and logo will be implemented on the effective date of the integration. Until this process is complete, Danamon and MUFG Indonesia will continue to operate as two separate entities.
The integration plan originated from MUFG Bank’s intention to integrate its branch office in Indonesia with Danamon, which is a consolidated subsidiary of MUFG Bank. The plan was previously announced on 11 May 2026 and will result in a bank legally incorporated in Indonesia.
President Director of Bank Danamon Indonesia, Nobuya Kawasaki, stated that the integration will merge Danamon’s experience in the Indonesian market with MUFG’s global network. Danamon has been operating in Indonesia for 70 years.
“Together, we will continue to bring Danamon’s 70 years of experience in Indonesia into the future, combined with MUFG’s strong expertise and global network, as we build the future together,” said Nobuya in a press release on Wednesday (7/10/2026).
Executive Officer and Country Head of Indonesia for MUFG Bank, Kenji Sato, stated that the unification of the two institutions is expected to enhance their ability to serve customers. The integration is also expected to benefit employees and the community.
“This proposed new name and logo reflect our commitment to creating greater value by uniting the strengths of both institutions. Furthermore, this combination will strengthen our ability to better serve customers, support employees, provide benefits to society, and contribute to Indonesia’s growth,” he said.
During the integration process, customers of both banks can continue to perform transactions and use products and services as usual. There will be no changes to current products, services, operating hours, or the available branch network.
Contractual relationships between Danamon and MUFG Indonesia with business partners, including vendors, contractors, outsourcing companies, and other parties, also remain in effect. Both parties stated that material information regarding the progress of the integration process will be communicated through their respective official communication channels.
