Integrated People's School in Bandung Regency Begins Operations, Accommodates 560 Students

The Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi (SRT) 4 Kabupaten Bandung in Soreang, West Java, has commenced operations for the 2026-2027 academic year. A total of 560 students from primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary levels have begun their school orientation period (MPLS) as the initial stage of learning at the boarding school. The construction of SRT 4 Kabupaten Bandung has been completed and all supporting facilities have been declared ready for use. PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) Corporate Secretary Dian Soviana stated that the company supports the provision of educational infrastructure through the construction of the school. ‘We are grateful that the construction of SRT 4 Kabupaten Bandung has been completed and is now being utilised by the community. For Brantas Abipraya, every infrastructure we build must provide tangible benefits,’ Dian said in a statement on Wednesday (6/8/2026). SRT 4 Kabupaten Bandung accommodates 56 primary school students, 229 junior secondary school students, and 275 senior secondary school students. Prior to participating in the MPLS, the students underwent a registration process as the initial stage of entering the boarding school environment. The opening of the MPLS was attended by Chief of Presidential Staff Dudung Abdurachman, along with officials from the Executive Office of the President, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Public Works. The school is built with an integrated, dormitory-based concept. Facilities include primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary school buildings, student dormitories, teacher housing blocks, a mosque, a multipurpose hall, a canteen, as well as sports facilities such as a mini soccer field and a basketball court. Dian stated that adequate educational infrastructure is expected to support the learning process as well as character building for students. ‘Education is a long-term investment for the nation’s progress. Through the construction of quality infrastructure, we aim to contribute to sustainable social impact, expand access to education, and support the birth of a superior and competitive Indonesian generation,’ she said. The government has confirmed that all supporting facilities at SRT 4 Kabupaten Bandung are ready for use. In addition to classrooms and dormitories, the school complex is also equipped with teacher housing blocks, dining halls, a canteen, and a place of worship to support teaching and learning activities. For the 2026-2027 academic year, the government is expanding the Sekolah Rakyat programme from 166 to 182 locations. Based on Ministry of Social Affairs data as of 8 July 2026, the programme targets 28,568 new students, comprising 6,305 primary school students, 11,186 junior secondary school students, and 11,077 senior secondary school students. With this addition, the total number of Sekolah Rakyat students in 2026 is targeted to reach 43,344. The government is also targeting the development of Sekolah Rakyat to 500 locations across 38 provinces and 416 regencies and cities by 2029.
