Integrated People's School 1 in Central Maluku admits 404 underprivileged students

Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi 1 Maluku Tengah has admitted 404 students from underprivileged families to pursue education from primary school through upper secondary school in Hollo Village, Central Maluku Regency.

Central Maluku Regent Zulkarnain Awat Amir said the presence of Sekolah Rakyat represents a form of government intervention to open access to proper and quality education for children from low-income families.

“These children have been given a very valuable opportunity. Therefore, do not waste it. Study diligently, build discipline, character and self-confidence,” he said.

The 404 students consist of 90 primary school pupils, 164 lower secondary school students, and 150 upper secondary school students. They occupy and take part in the learning process at Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi 1 Maluku Tengah, which was built through the Maluku Strategic Infrastructure Implementation Work Unit.

According to Zulkarnain, Sekolah Rakyat not only provides educational facilities but is part of the state’s effort to give greater opportunities to children from underprivileged families to improve their quality of life through education.

“Central Maluku Regency is one of the regencies in Maluku Province entrusted with having a Sekolah Rakyat as part of the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s National Strategic Programme,” he said.

He stressed that the success of the programme is determined not only by the availability of buildings and facilities but also by the quality of education, character building, and support for students.

He therefore asked teachers and education staff to carry out their duties by prioritising exemplary conduct, patience, and commitment in educating students.

“What we are building here is not only academic ability but also the character and future of the children,” he said.

He invited parents to build communication and cooperation with the school so that the education process can run sustainably.

He reminded students to maintain the facilities and cleanliness of the school environment and to use them to develop their potential and achieve success.
