The Kupang Regency Government in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will build an Integrated National School with an investment value of around Rp 250 billion. The school, which is part of a central government programme, is targeted to begin construction next month.

“We are grateful that we are possibly the only regency to receive an Integrated National School, with a budget allocation of around Rp 250 billion,” said Kupang Regent Yosef Lede on Wednesday (17/6/2026).

Yosef explained that Kupang Regency had previously been designated as a location for the construction of a Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School). Now, the local government has again been entrusted to host an Integrated National School, which is part of the President’s priority programme.

“According to the plan, construction will begin next month, and this is in line with the President’s programme,” he stated.

According to him, the presence of the school is expected to broaden access to quality education for the community, particularly children in Kupang Regency.

“So we in the region are ready, and we hope that we can accommodate this excellent programme from the President to meet the needs of our children who wish to attend a quality school,” said Yosef.

He assessed that the construction of the Integrated National School could reduce the community’s dependence on educational institutions outside NTT, which have so far been an option for some students to continue their education.

The Kupang Regency Government has already prepared 20 hectares of land in Manusak Village, East Kupang District, as a requirement for the construction.

“The land is already available. We have prepared 20 hectares of land,” Yosef clarified.

Currently, a technical team has visited the location to conduct land measurements. The results of these measurements will subsequently be submitted to the relevant ministry as part of the construction administration process.

“Kupang Regency is included as a priority area for the construction of an Integrated National School,” he concluded.
