Integrated Muslim Cemetery Begins Operations, Serving Sharia-Compliant Burial Needs
An integrated Muslim cemetery facility has entered the operational phase following the completion of its first cluster. The presence of this burial area is expected to provide a solution to the increasing need for organised and sharia-compliant burial land in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) region. Nugrohadi Yuwono, President Director of Insira Memorial Park, stated that the initial phase of development has been completed, allowing at-need burial services to be carried out immediately. “Currently, the development of Insira Memorial Park has reached the operational stage. The first cluster has been completed and can officially be used, so at-need burial services can now be performed in this area,” Nugrohadi said in a written statement on Saturday (13/6/2026). The operational readiness was marked by a certificate handover ceremony held last week, attended by more than 100 people, including Insira management, the Sharia Advisory Board, and customers entering the unit handover period. According to Nugrohadi, Insira Memorial Park has also issued hundreds of ownership certificates handed over in stages to customers. The certificate serves as proof of ownership and the right to use the burial plot, while providing legal certainty for the owner. “This certificate is proof of ownership and the right to use the burial land, which also guarantees the holder will receive unit maintenance services, legal certainty of the land, and peace of mind because the family burial land has been prepared well in advance,” Nugrohadi said. The initial development of the area currently covers more than 30 hectares. In the future, the area has the potential to be expanded to 100 hectares to meet the continuously growing need for Muslim burial land, particularly in the Jabodetabek region. “We are preparing this expansion to answer the high demand from the community for organised and sharia-compliant Muslim burial land, especially in the Jabodetabek area,” Nugrohadi stated. He believes the presence of a comprehensively planned burial area can be one answer to the limited burial land currently faced by urban communities. By preparing the land early, families do not need to face the difficulty of finding a burial location amidst grief. “By preparing the land early, families no longer need to face the difficulty of finding land when mourning arrives. We also enable extended family graves to be located close together in one area,” he said. As part of its marketing strategy, Insira offers a special promotional programme for the purchase of a minimum of four plot units. The programme provides cashback ranging from Rp 24 million to Rp 200 million, depending on the type of grave selected. “This programme is aimed primarily at large families who wish to prepare a burial area side-by-side in one location,” Nugrohadi said. In terms of pricing, unit options are available starting from Rp 26.9 million for a Single type to Rp 549 million for a Signature Family type. The company also offers the option to adjust unit types according to customer needs. Additionally, Nugrohadi considers the location of the burial area to be a key advantage due to its direct access via toll roads and provincial roads. “The location is strategic with direct access via toll roads and provincial roads without needing to pass through small roads or alleys. This is an important added value for the ease of burial processions and family visits,” he explained. He added that the planned construction of the Serpong-Balaraja Toll Road section, with an exit access approximately 300 metres from the burial area, is believed to further enhance ease of access in the future. In its operations, the area is equipped with various supporting facilities such as a mosque and prayer rooms, lounges, cafes and restaurants, children’s play areas, a plaza, a marketing gallery, drop-off areas, ample parking, and toilet facilities. The area also features pedestrian paths that are friendly for the elderly and persons with disabilities. Furthermore, burial services are provided 24 hours a day to ensure families receive assistance whenever needed. “We understand that grief can come without regard to time. Therefore, our burial services are ready to operate 24 hours to support families,” Nugrohadi said. One customer, Tri Endah Handayani, admitted she chose to prepare her burial plot early to provide certainty and reduce the burden on her family later in life. “I want to have prepared a proper place at the end of my life. So my children already know the place and I won’t trouble them too much later. Initially, I saw some friends who passed away being buried in places with unpleasant conditions, some near rubbish dumps, others had to be stacked. From there, I started looking for a more proper burial place. After searching, I felt Insira was the closest and most suitable for me,” she said. Another customer, Arbianti, admitted she had long planned to prepare burial land for herself and her family as part of future planning. “I have indeed had the intention for a long time to have my own burial plot so as not to burden my children in the future. I once saw a burial location in Karawang, but I thought it was too far. I hoped there would be one closer to Tangerang. When I saw Insira on social media and it turned out the location was what I was looking for, I came straight away,” she said. According to Arbianti, the location factor was one of the main considerations in choosing the burial area. Besides being easily accessible for the family, good access is considered to facilitate the pilgrimage process in the future.
