Integrated E-Learning Platform Launched for Sharia Bankers
The ASBISINDO Institute, together with the edutech platform Vocasia, has launched an integrated e-learning platform to strengthen the competencies of more than 50,000 sharia bankers in Indonesia as an effort to address digitalisation challenges and meet the competency standards set by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The presence of this platform represents the association’s initiative to promote competency refreshment for bankers amid their operational busyness.
“The utilisation of learning technology becomes an important means to access knowledge without limits of space and time. This platform serves as a scalable knowledge-sharing hub aligned with the evolving needs of the industry,” stated the General Chairman of the Indonesian Sharia Banks Association (Asbisindo), who is also the President Director of BSI, Anggoro Eko Cahyo, in a written statement on Wednesday (8/4).
The Chairman of the Asbisindo Institute, Wahyu Avianto, explained that this initiative is an extension of the OJK’s blueprint for human resource development in the financial services sector. Currently, there are approximately 71 to 91 types of competencies that banking professionals must fulfil.
“Bankers have high busyness. So we develop a more flexible learning method in the current era. Everything is digital 24/7. Although app-based and accessible via mobile phones, we still ensure facilitator and material standards through strict reviews with the Sharia Financial LSP,” clarified Wahyu.
For the initial stage, the platform, accessible via asbisindoinstitute.vokasia.id, focuses on the Risk Management Certification Maintenance Programme (PPSMR) Levels 4 to 6. Meanwhile, for level 7 (executive level), training remains conducted offline to maintain strategic interaction depth.
Meanwhile, Vocasia Chairman Farid Subkhan quoted guidance from Bank Syariah Indonesia’s Chief Commissioner Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, stating that there is still a digital gap in human resource development that has not been well orchestrated. According to him, they, together with the Asbisindo Institute, are addressing this challenge through e-learning.
Vocasia has been ready to partner with various institutions in the e-learning field. In the near future, Vocasia will partner with an institution in the integrated property company Lumbung Coin Eco Resort in Malang, East Java.
They act as a serious technology provider managing the platform and content production facilities (studio), while Asbisindo focuses on competency substance and marketing. This collaboration was initiated for nearly a year to find the best model.
Going forward, this platform will continue to be developed to cover the entire OJK competency dictionary and invite sharia banking experts to join as digital instructors. Through a self-paced learning approach, sharia banking professionals can now access curated video content, applied modules, and interactive discussions anytime, to drive competency standardisation and readiness to face the increasingly complex dynamics of the financial industry.
