Integrated Cybersecurity Within Work Processes Continues to be Strengthened
Perusahaan Umum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (Peruri) is pushing for the strengthening of cybersecurity by integrating security aspects into work processes, technology, and organisational governance. This step is considered vital amidst the acceleration of digital transformation, which increases security risks to systems and data.
Peruri’s Director of Digital Business, Edwin Purwandesi, stated that strengthening cybersecurity cannot be achieved solely through awareness programmes for employees. Such efforts must be accompanied by the provision of infrastructure, devices, platforms, and enforcement mechanisms that are integrated with operational activities.
Edwin shared this during the Executive Forum titled “The Internal Frontline: Fixing the Human Factor in Cybersecurity” as part of the ADIGSI Cyber Resilience Day 2026 held at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Jakarta, in August 2026.
“If we provide awareness but do not provide the necessary tools and platforms, that awareness will lose its meaning. Let us continue to promote awareness, but also prepare the appropriate frameworks and platforms to support that awareness,” said Edwin.
According to him, a security approach must also be applied from the initial design stage of a system through the concept of ‘security by design’. This approach is necessary to ensure that systems maintain layers of protection when employees face urgent conditions or situations that could potentially lead to the bypassing of procedures.
Consequently, security will not only depend on individual compliance but will also be supported by systems designed to minimise risk.
At Peruri, the implementation of security by design is carried out from the very beginning of development. Every digital talent and partner is required to undergo an onboarding process and sign an integrity pact. They must also undergo a risk analysis before obtaining limited system access based on their role and risk level, known as risk-based access.
Furthermore, every system undergoes phased testing before being used in operations. Testing includes Quality Assurance (QA) Tests, Function Tests, and Security Tests before a system enters the production or ‘go-to-production’ stage.
Peruri is also adopting technologies such as Large Risk Models (LRM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). These technologies are used to help automatically detect and predict potential security vulnerabilities within programming code.
The use of such technology is part of the effort to anticipate the human factor in cybersecurity, particularly procedural errors that may occur due to high dynamics and work demands.
Edwin believes that strengthening cybersecurity must be built through a combination of employee understanding, the use of technology, and integrated governance. This approach is expected to strengthen technological and data protection during the digital transformation process.
