Integrated Chicken Downstreaming Project in Malang Continues to be Refined
PT Berdikari (Persero) is currently refining the implementation of the Integrated Chicken Downstreaming (HAT) Project in Malang, East Java. This move is part of an effort to strengthen the national poultry industry ecosystem from upstream to downstream.
The step was marked by a direct field inspection alongside a team of experts and company executives to ensure that technical planning, including the Feasibility Study (FS) and site plan, aligns with real-world site conditions. This ensures that implementation is measurable, effective, and meets industry needs while supporting the national food self-sufficiency agenda.
PT Berdikari, accompanied by experts Trioso Purnawarman and Sahrul, conducted the inspection. The visit was also attended by Breeding Director Hari Suhada to ensure the HAT project’s implementation provides a solid foundation for the national poultry industry.
The President Director of PT Berdikari, Maryadi, described the project as a major endeavour by the company to build an integrated livestock ecosystem. “Through the HAT project, we want to strengthen the independence of the national poultry industry while simultaneously increasing the productivity of smallholder farmers,” Maryadi stated.
The company is ensuring that every aspect of the feasibility study and site plan is consistent with field realities so that the project is mature, measurable, and aligned with industry requirements. Recommendations from the expert team serve as essential guidance to ensure the HAT programme complies with regulations, acting as a new pillar for national food security based on animal protein.
According to Maryadi, this step aligns with the government’s spirit to accelerate national food self-sufficiency through Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 2 of 2026. Furthermore, the provisions of the Minister of Agriculture Regulation Number 34 of 2025 provide direction and ensure that the national agriculture and livestock sectors operate under orderly governance with measurable business standards.
Overseeing the progress of the Integrated Chicken Downstreaming Project is the General Manager of Corporate Secretary & SR of PT Berdikari, AS. Hasbi Al-Islahi, who is ensuring that every construction stage moves at a directed pace. “PT Berdikari is increasingly serious about ensuring every stage of the HAT Project runs optimally, from planning and construction to field implementation, so that it can provide a real impact for smallholder farmers,” he said.
With a connected ecosystem, farmers will no longer face market dynamics alone. In addition to strengthening national food self-sufficiency, the HAT Project is a strategic step in supporting the sustainability of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme, which aims to meet the animal protein needs of the Indonesian people equitably.
