Instant noodles
From Kompas
The case of toxic instant noodles is similar to the catastrophe caused by Tylenol medicine in the United States in the early 1980s. The only difference is that Tylenol producer J&J immediately withdrew the deadly medicines from the market to prevent further deaths.
In this country, however, the Indomie noodles producer arrogantly refused to withdraw its products from the market. Worse still it did not show any concern over the victims and would not extend any aid or compensation. It put profit above human lives.
I agree with the opinion that the factory is not the source of the poison and it would be pointless for the Ministry of Health to examine the factory. Investigation must be done in a more professional way. Withdrawal of the product must be considered, at least in South Sumatra and Jambi. It is important to localize the impact of the case and study whether other products are also being made tools for creating unrest in society.
