Installation of floating trash booms in Sungai Lestari

River volunteers have installed floating trash booms in the Jenes River, located in Pajang, Laweyan, Solo, Central Java. The Solo City Government, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Clean Rivers, has launched the ‘Sungai Lestari’ waste management programme. Under this scheme, waste collected from the headwaters of Solo’s rivers will be immediately sorted and processed by local partners. The initiative aims to create cleaner rivers while simultaneously reducing the waste quota burden at the Putri Cempo landfill.
