Instagram Releases New Way to "Pause" Video Stories Without Needing to Hold Down

Instagram has introduced an update to its features that makes it easier for users to control videos, including Stories and Reels. Now, users can pause videos with just one tap on the screen.

The feature was announced by Instagram via their official account on the Threads platform. The update is being rolled out to users across various platforms, including web, Android, and iOS, through the latest app versions.

KompasTekno observations at the time of this report indicate that Instagram users in Indonesia have also received this update.

Previously, users had to hold down the screen (tap-and-hold) to temporarily stop a playing video. Meanwhile, simply tapping the screen would keep the video running but mute the sound.

This change is considered to make the viewing experience more practical, especially for users who want to pay attention to content details or read text that appears in the video.

The feature is also part of Instagram’s efforts to simplify user interactions with short-form video content, which is now the primary format on the platform.

With this latest update, Instagram continues to develop features focused on user comfort in enjoying video content, both on mobile devices and other platforms.
