Instagram enables users to rearrange profile grid order
Instagram has finally introduced a highly anticipated feature for users, particularly those focused on maintaining a neat and aesthetic grid design. The Meta-owned application has announced the ability for users to rearrange their post grids, meaning content no longer needs to follow a strict chronological order based on the time of upload.
As reported by Engadget on Monday (8/6), this feature arrives almost a year after Instagram Head Adam Mosseri announced its development. The feature began rolling out on Monday (8/6) and is accessible to users globally.
“We know this has been a long time coming, but we wanted to take the time to get it right,” Meta told the publication.
Alessandro Paluzzi, known for reverse-engineering apps and discovering unannounced tools, first identified an “edit grid” option within the Instagram app in 2022; however, the feature was not released at that time.
For users interested in rearranging their post grids, the process involves opening their Instagram profile and long-pressing any post. Selecting this option opens a new window where users can drag posts and rearrange content until their profile looks exactly as desired. It is important to note that any posts that a user has pinned will remain at the top of the profile and will appear black within the “Rearrange grid” window.
