Instagram Begins Distinguishing AI Creators from Regular Creators
Instagram is beginning to test a new feature that will label accounts which frequently upload artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content.
Through this feature, accounts that regularly share AI content can receive an “AI Creator” label on their profile as well as next to their uploads.
However, the label does not appear automatically. Instagram implements a voluntary or opt-in system, so account owners must activate it themselves if they wish to display this label identity.
In an official Instagram post, they state that the feature is introduced to increase transparency regarding AI content, which is now increasingly prevalent on social media.
Instagram also mentions that the AI Creator label can help those creators build trust with their fans, while also allowing them to control their own narrative.
“This label also shows that the creator values transparency, which can help build more authentic relationships with their audience,” Instagram added.
To add the AI Creator label, Instagram content creators can go to the “Edit Profile” page and activate the “AI Creator” option located at the bottom of that page.
Subsequently, the label will automatically appear on the user’s profile and on every post, right below their account name.
This means that the content will still be visible to other users according to the platform’s algorithm and audience reach.
For now, the AI Creator label is still in a limited testing phase and is not yet available to all users or content creators.
Instagram says the feature will be tested more widely in the coming weeks, as compiled by KompasTekno from GSMArena on Thursday.
