Inspiring TPST Transforms Waste into Jobs and Economic Livelihoods for Residents

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG – Workers sort waste at the Mulyoagung Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Integrated Waste Treatment Facility (TPST 3R) in Dau, Malang Regency, East Java, on Tuesday (9/6/2026). The community-based TPST facility processes 40 tonnes of waste every day and is able to suppress residue to just 14 per cent through sorting and processing waste into various economically valuable products, such as maggots, compost, bath soap made from fruit waste, and organic fertiliser, while also creating jobs for 50 local residents who are independently paid.
