Inspiring: Children in Palembang Choose River Cleaning Over Street Brawls
A group of children belonging to the Clean Vibes 13 Members community cleaned a tributary filled with waste in the 13 Ilir Village, Ilir Timur I District, Palembang, South Sumatra, on Wednesday (30/09/2026). For them, this activity is not merely about environmental preservation, but also serves as a way to spend their time with positive collective activities to distance themselves from street brawls.
Members of the Clean Vibes 13 Members community were seen removing rubbish from the tributary in 13 Ilir Village. They directly entered the water flow, which was heavily polluted with waste, as a form of care for the environment surrounding their homes.
A member of Clean Vibes 13 Members was seen sorting and collecting waste from the banks of the tributary in the 13 Ilir area. The community, which consists of children, routinely conducts cleaning activities three times a week, with each session lasting approximately one to two hours.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the water flow is crucial, as waste issues in Palembang’s river areas are closely linked to waste disposal habits and the limited availability of waste management facilities.
