Inspiration for Burning Makassar DPRD Building Sentenced to 8 Months in Prison
Muh Ilham (22), the defendant in the case of damaging and burning the Makassar City DPRD building in South Sulawesi, underwent a sentencing hearing. He was sentenced to eight months in prison. According to detiksulsel on Monday (6/4/2026), the decision was read by the judge in Room Mochtar Kusumaatmadja at the Makassar District Court on Monday (6/4/2026). In the verdict’s decree, the judge stated that the defendant was proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the criminal offence as charged by the prosecutor. “Declaring the defendant Muh Ilham proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the criminal offence in public, committing violence against property as in the second charge,” said Judge Agus Aryanto while reading the decision. The judge then imposed an eight-month prison sentence on Ilham. This verdict is lower than the prosecutor’s previous demand of one year in prison for the defendant. “Imposing a prison sentence on the defendant Muh Ilham for a term of 8 (eight) months. Determining that the period of detention already served by the defendant is fully deducted from the imposed sentence,” said the judge. Meanwhile, the defendant’s legal counsel, Prawidi Wisanggeni, stated that he accepts the panel of judges’ decision. Regarding the detention period, Prawidi said that his client has already served about seven months in prison. “Approximately seven months already, Insyaallah (he will be free soon),” said Prawidi.
