Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho Retires: The Traffic Police Uniform is a Promise to the Public
Inspector General (Ret.) Agus Suryonugroho has entered his retirement period. The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri) for the 2025-2026 period requested that the Korlantas Polri ranks continue to maintain solidarity and uphold the dignity of the traffic police.
The Korlantas Polri ranks bid farewell to Inspector General (Ret.) Agus Suryonugtingroho at the Korlantas Polri field on Monday (31/8/2026). Present at the event were the Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General Wibowo, along with the main officials of Korlantas Polri.
In his mandate, Inspector General Agus advised the entire Korlantas Polri family to continue upholding the dignity of the traffic police, strengthening solidarity, and prioritising humanistic service to the public.
Inspector General Agus also requested all personnel to maintain cohesion and avoid conflict within the organisational environment. According to him, every issue must be communicated effectively to maintain the solidarity of Korlantas Polri.
“There must be no conflict, whether at the leadership level or the director level. Communicate well,” said Inspector General Agus.
In addition to solidarity, Inspector General Agus also reminded all personnel to prioritise a humanistic approach towards the public when performing their duties.
“The traffic police uniform is not merely a uniform. It is a promise to the public that your uniform is a light for those in need of assistance on the road,” he stated.
In his view, technological developments in traffic services, including Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE), must continue to be supported. However, technology must still be balanced with a human touch from personnel in the field.
“Technology will continue to change and become more sophisticated, but the warmth of a smile, the sincerity of helping, and the exemplary conduct of members in the field are the true, irreplaceable soul of the traffic police,” said Inspector General Agus.
On this occasion, Inspector General Agus also expressed his appreciation for the togetherness of all Korlantas Polri ranks during his period of service. He expressed his hope that various ongoing programmes and transformations could be continued.
He emphasised that retirement does not mean the end of his love for Korlantas Polri. Support for the progress of the traffic police will continue to be provided even though he is now outside the institution.
“This long journey has taught me that what the public will remember is not the rank on our shoulders, but the way we treat the people,” he said.
