Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) inspected the potential site for the People’s School at the Graduate School of Administration of the State Administration Agency (STIA LAN) in Penjompongan, Central Jakarta.

“After seeing the situation and conditions here in Penjompongan, this is a heartening matter, because this building is truly very representative and suitable for organising a pilot people’s school,” he said in a written statement on Friday (27/3/2026).

The visit was also attended by Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Robben Rico, accompanied by Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works Wida Nurfaida, and Head of LAN Muhammad Taufiq, who conducted the visit to STIA LAN to follow up on the President’s directive regarding collaboration in organising the pilot People’s School.

During the visit, Gus Ipul and his team inspected the prospective locations for classrooms, dormitories, cafeteria, and fields. He expressed appreciation for the support provided by LAN.

“I see that the classrooms, student dormitories, dining areas, and surroundings are already quite good. This is one of the important requirements before we look at other supporting capacities,” said Gus Ipul.

He explained that this pilot people’s school is planned for residents of Jakarta and its surroundings, and it will soon be followed up jointly with the Ministry of Public Works through the planning process so that it can begin to be organised this year.

“We propose to the Ministry of Public Works to review, then conduct verification and validation on the existing buildings, whether they are feasible to proceed or perhaps require alternative locations,” he said.

Gus Ipul hopes that this cross-ministerial collaboration can realise the addition of People’s School programmes in Jakarta in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive.

Head of LAN, Muhammad Taufiq, also stated that the site inspection for the People’s School was carried out together with several ministries as an important step in supporting collaborative education programmes.

He added that the chosen location is considered strategic because it is in an area that already has an integrated educational ecosystem.

“The selected place happens to be an education centre, so this is an integrated location,” he continued.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), Wida Nurfaida, expressed readiness to support the organisation of the People’s School through the provision of facilities and infrastructure. Wida stated that cross-ministerial coordination has been carried out to ensure the readiness of facilities and the acceleration of the programme’s implementation.

“Alhamdulillah, we have been given the opportunity to utilise the existing facilities in the LAN environment as support for the organisation of the Indonesian People’s School,” she said.
