Inspection of Merak Port Readiness for Mudik Exodus
Senior government officials conducted an inspection of Merak Port in Cilegon, Banten, on Friday, 13 March 2026, to assess readiness ahead of the anticipated mudik exodus during the Eid holidays.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, accompanied by Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Lodewijk Friedrich Paulus, visited the Executive Wharf at Merak Port to greet passengers and assess operational readiness. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Banten Regional Police Chief Inspector General Hengki also participated in the inspection, as did Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi and Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency) Head Air Marshal Mohammad Syafii.
The inspection was conducted to ensure that port personnel and facilities are adequately prepared to serve the anticipated volume of holidaymakers travelling during the 2026 Eid holiday period. Merak Port, a key gateway for inter-island ferry services, plays a critical role in managing the seasonal surge in passenger traffic during major public holidays.
