Inspecting the Hajj Dormitory Facilities in Bekasi: Hotel-Like Rooms and Massage Chairs for Pilgrims
BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – Ahead of the arrival of the first batch of Hajj pilgrims on Tuesday (21/4/2026), the Hajj Embarkation Dormitory in Jakarta-Bekasi in Bekasi City has prepared various facilities to support the comfort of the pilgrims. Based on observations by Kompas.com at the site on Monday (20/4/2026), the rooms to be occupied by pilgrims are prepared with facilities resembling those of a hotel or inn. In addition, supplementary equipment is available, namely thermoses, blankets, and sandals that can be used during their stay at the dormitory. The Head of the Accommodation Division for Hajj Organising Officers (PPIH) in Bekasi, Kania Budhi Utami, said that these facilities are part of the enhancement of services for pilgrims before they are dispatched to the Holy Land. “We have prepared everything for free so that pilgrims can rest comfortably,” Kania said when met at the location on Monday. Not only inside the rooms, various facilities are also provided in the outdoor areas of the dormitory. In the courtyard area, there are three massage chair units that pilgrims can use for relaxation. Kania added that they also provide sports facilities and health services to keep the pilgrims’ physical condition in prime shape during the waiting period. “All elderly pilgrims will be placed on the first floor to facilitate mobility. In addition, pilgrims’ luggage will be directly delivered to their respective rooms,” she said. She mentioned that the operational preparations for the Hajj dormitory have been nearly complete since last week and are ready to welcome the arrival of the first batch. “Tomorrow’s first arrival is at 07:10 WIB, and they will be dispatched to the Holy Land at 02:10 WIB in the early hours,” Kania said. Upon arrival at the dormitory, pilgrims will be directed to the hall with separation between men and women, before undergoing a series of stages such as health checks and distribution of departure documents.
