Hotel Sultan has officially become state property, with the government opening up options for its overhaul or complete demolition. Based on CNBC Indonesia’s monitoring, a police tent has been erected directly in front of Hotel Sultan. Several banners and signs at various points explain that the land and buildings of Hotel Sultan are now owned by the State. The hotel, which is now officially a state asset, is being prepared to become a new icon in Indonesia and will be managed by a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN). CEO of the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara), Rosan Roeslani, outlined the management plans for Hotel Sultan, located in Block 15 of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex. The area had been the subject of a dispute over management rights between the government and PT Indobuildco. Rosan explained that the management of Hotel Sultan and the Block 15 area is planned to be handled by state-owned companies, either Injourney or The Meru. This plan will proceed once the dispute issues are fully resolved at the Ministry of State Secretariat. Rosan stated that the GBK area, including Hotel Sultan, will become a new icon for Indonesia, necessitating a complete design overhaul. He also mentioned that the golf course and the entire 200-hectare GBK area will be developed. Consequently, the possibility of demolishing the hotel, which was established in the 1970s, is not being ruled out.
