Innovative Fungicide Introduced to Boost Rice Productivity
Syngenta Indonesia has launched an innovative fungicide for rice based on Adepidyn technology. The pesticide, which specifically functions to kill, inhibit growth, or prevent fungal and pathogenic mould spores, is intended to provide more effective crop protection to help farmers increase productivity amidst challenges from crop diseases and weather uncertainty. “The fungicide, named Miravis Duo, is designed to meet farmers’ needs for reliable disease control solutions, providing strong and consistent protection while keeping plants healthier, greener, and cleaner, thus supporting higher yield potential,” said Syngenta Indonesia President Director Eryanto. Jember Regency was chosen as the launch location because of its important role as one of the rice production centres in East Java and the Tapal Kuda region. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as of 2 June 2026, Jember’s rice production reached 446,097 tonnes. This achievement is supported by various government programmes, such as land optimisation, pumped irrigation development, fertiliser subsidies, and assistance with agricultural tools and machinery (alsintan). To support increased yields, Syngenta introduced Miravis Duo, which is designed to provide protection against crop diseases with rapid absorption throughout the plant tissue and protection for up to 14 days after application. In addition to maintaining plant health, the fungicide is claimed to help keep the flag leaf green and clean so that the photosynthesis process runs more optimally. This condition is considered capable of increasing water use efficiency, strengthening plant growth, and supporting improvements in both the quality and quantity of harvests. Head of the Jember Regency Food Crops, Horticulture, and Plantation Office, Moh Djamil, welcomed the innovation. “We greatly appreciate Syngenta for bringing innovation to farmers. We hope this technology can have a real impact on increasing agricultural productivity in Jember Regency. Moreover, the Government Purchase Price (HPP) for unhusked rice is currently at a very good level, which is Rp7,500 per kilogram,” he said. Syngenta Indonesia National Sales Head Fauzi Tubat said increasing production is a key factor in supporting farmer welfare. “Farmers must focus on increasing production. If volume rises and prices also rise, then farmers’ incomes will increase. Through the ‘Petani Maju’ strategy, Syngenta strives to maximise farmers’ profits, promote sustainable agriculture, and strengthen collaboration to advance Indonesian agriculture,” Fauzi said. In addition to introducing the new product, Syngenta also showed appreciation to farming families by handing over school bags and stationery to 20 high-achieving children of farmers from the Al Mubarok Foundation Islamic Boarding School in Jember. The programme is expected to support the learning spirit of the younger generation while strengthening Jember’s role as one of the nation’s food baskets.
