Innalillahi, UGM Professor Djoko Suryo Passes Away

Sad news has come from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). FIB UGM Professor Dr. H. Djoko Suryo has passed away today.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rooji’uun… Today, Professor Dr. H. Djoko Suryo of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences passed away at RS Akademik, Yogyakarta, on 7 September at 04.50 WIB,” said a UGM spokesperson in a written statement received by detikJogja on Monday (7/9).

The body of the professor, who hailed from Pekalongan, will lie in state at the family home on Jalan Merpati, Beo alley, Wedomartani, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The late professor will also lie in state at UGM’s Balairung from 14.00 WIB.

“The body will be buried at Sawitsari at 15.00 WIB,” the statement continued.

The statement said the late Djoko is survived by his wife, Suryaningsih, seven children, and nine grandchildren.
