Innalillahi, Hajj Pilgrim from Indramayu Passes Away on Aircraft

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, INDRAMAYU – Innalillahi wa innailaihi rojiun. Sad news has emerged from a group of Hajj pilgrims from Indramayu Regency. A pilgrim, Kunengsih binti Tasba (69), passed away on board the aircraft that was bringing her home to Indonesia on Tuesday (16/6/2026).

The Head of the Indramayu Regency Hajj and Umrah Ministry Office, Effendy, explained that the late Kunengsih was part of group 21 from the Kertajati Embarkation. According to him, the deceased died on board Saudi Arabian Airlines flight SV5185.

“The information is that she passed away after one hour of flying,” Effendy told Republika in Indramayu Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (16/6/2026).

Effendy said that after landing at Kertajati Airport in Majalengka Regency at around 14.20 WIB, the deceased’s body was immediately taken by ambulance to Cideres Regional General Hospital in Majalengka Regency. As of the time this report was filed, the ambulance carrying the deceased was en route from Majalengka Regency to the family home in Leuwigede Village, Widasari District, Indramayu Regency.

Effendy stated that he was currently escorting the ambulance carrying the deceased to the family home. He noted that he had not yet received definitive information regarding the cause of death.

“The family initially did not believe the news because before the flight, the deceased was still communicating with her family,” he said.
