Inmates Enthusiastic About Free Tattoo-Removal Service at Makassar Class I Detention Centre

In Makassar’s Class I Detention Centre, fifty inmates took part in a free tattoo-removal service on Saturday, 23 May 2026. The event was organised by the detention centre in partnership with the Yayasan Makassar Hijrah Tanpa Nama (Mahtan) as part of a programme to build character, helping participants leave their past behind, improve themselves physically, mentally and spiritually, and prepare for reintegration into society. Volunteers from Mahtan carried out the cooling process after the tattoo removals. One inmate displayed a tattoo bearing the name of his former wife that he wished to remove.
