TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The National Association of Indonesian Consultants (INKINDO) has suggested that provincial governments arrange trading company and skill standards for foreign consultants working in Indonesia.
“We have submitted the suggestions,” said Bambang Wikanta, chairman of INKINDO’s Regional Representative Council for Jakarta, on Tuesday (19/8).
Bambang explained that the foreign consultants working on construction projects in Indonesia should meet the seven criteria arranged by the Planning and Working Licenses.
He mentioned State Decree No. 18/1999 regarding Construction Services which states that high rise construction should be conducted by a company not by an individual.
Bambang said that some high rise projects were still being handled by individual and this makes building quality poor.
Separately, Ismanto, an expert member of staff to the Minister of Public Works, acknowledged that there were weaknesses in construction.
He mentioned the Ministerial Decree No.45/2007 will repair the weaknesses.
“It will regulate the construction of offices, houses, and schools,” he said.
