INKA Completes Intensive Maintenance on KRL Trainset
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero), also known as INKA, together with KAI Commuter, completed an intensive maintenance programme, or General Check-Up, on one KRL trainset, specifically unit iE305 (CLI-2lag 225), on Saturday (19/9).
The inspection involved a comprehensive examination of all major systems and components to ensure that safety, reliability, and operational functions remain in optimal condition. Following the completion of all inspection and testing stages, the trainset has been returned to KAI Commuter for use in commuter line services.
Nanang Agung Rohmandiyas, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and Representative Office at PT INKA, stated in Jakarta on Saturday that the process for six other trainsets is being carried out in stages.
“One trainset has completed all stages of the General Check-Up and has been returned to KAI Commuter for service. The next two trainsets are targeted for completion by the fourth week of September, the following two by late September or early October, and the final two by the end of the first week of October,” said Nanang.
The General Check-Up is being conducted alongside KAI Commuter, KAI, and relevant stakeholders, involving INKA’s engineering and quality assurance teams. The inspection process is taking place at two overhaul facilities, namely Depok and Manggarai.
“We apologise to all Commuter Line users for any inconvenience caused during this process. We will continue to coordinate with all related parties to complete all inspection stages while maintaining safety and reliability standards,” Nanang concluded.
At the same time, Karina Amanda, VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, stated that following the phased comprehensive maintenance of the CLI 225 series, KAI Commuter has resumed operating the serviced trainset to serve passengers on the Bogor line starting Saturday.
“With the operation of the serviced trainset starting Monday, 21 September 2026, the number of trips on the Bogor line will increase by four, bringing the total number of trips across all lines back to a normal level of 1,065, up from the 1,061 trips recorded since 10 September,” explained Karina.
This addition of four trips is intended to support the transport capacity needs of the public who rely on the Bogor commuter line for daily mobility. Consequently, starting Monday, the total number of trips on the Bogor line will return to 392.
Furthermore, Karina explained that KAI Commuter is still implementing rolling stock circulation adjustments, particularly on the Tanjung Priok line. The operation of these commuter line sets has not yet replaced the use of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport commuter line sets on the Tanjung Priok route.
“Services for the Soekarno-Hatta Airport commuter line are also still being adjusted, currently providing a temporary service of 52 trips per day,” she explained.
According to passenger volume data for the Bogor line, prior to the maintenance, the number of commuters exceeded 492,000 people. At the start of the maintenance period, the average dropped to 440,000 people per day, a decrease of 10.6 per cent. Following the adjustment of the rolling stock circulation, over 454,000 users have been served.
“With the reintroduction of four trips on the Bogor line, we hope to provide more flexibility for passengers to adjust their travel, especially at the start of the week when volumes are highest,” Karina added.
KAI Commuter will continue to evaluate operational adjustments resulting from the KRL maintenance and will maintain focus on the scheduled number of trips and rolling stock circulation across all lines daily.
“The return of this CLI 225 trainset will provide greater comfort to users. Safety is our priority and our commitment as we optimise services during this maintenance period,” said Karina.
