KAI Commuter is implementing adjustments to Jabodetabek Commuter Line services starting Monday (7/9). The policy is being applied temporarily alongside intensive maintenance of a number of electric multiple unit (EMU) trainsets.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Karina Amanda said the operational adjustments were made taking into account the number of available rolling stock. The schedule changes apply mainly during the morning and evening to night periods.

“We are currently carrying out an intensive maintenance process on our EMU trainsets for the safety and security of journeys,” said Karina.

Overall, 17 Commuter Line journeys have been adjusted. In the morning, seven journeys from Bogor, Cilebut and Depok to Manggarai/Jakarta Kota have been cancelled. In addition, five journeys from Jakarta Kota to Bogor have also been cancelled.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon, two journeys from Manggarai to Bogor and three journeys from Bogor have also been adjusted.

As a result of these changes, the number of Jabodetabek Commuter Line journeys operated by KAI Commuter has fallen to 1,048 per day, down from 1,065 previously.

Karina explained that trainset maintenance is an important part of maintaining the reliability of the rolling stock used by the public every day. The step also reflects the company’s effort to ensure that safety and security remain priorities in its commuter transport services.

“We understand that there will inevitably be some inconvenience for Commuter Line users during this maintenance process. We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” said Karina.

She asked Commuter Line users to anticipate these changes by adjusting their travel times.

“We urge passengers to readjust their travel schedules,” said Karina.

KAI Commuter, she continued, will provide regular updates on Commuter Line schedules and operations. This information can be obtained through station announcements, information displayed inside trains, the C-Access application and KAI Commuter’s official social media channels.

The EMU maintenance has also received support from PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero), or INKA, as the manufacturer of the rolling stock.

INKA, together with the KAI Commuter team and relevant stakeholders, is directly involved in the General Check-Up process for the iE305 series trainsets produced by the company.

The inspection is being carried out to ensure that various train components are in optimal condition. Areas receiving particular attention include the bogie system, the propulsion system and other components related to operational safety.

Senior Manager Corporate Communication and Representative Office at INKA Nanang Agung Rohmandiyas said INKA’s engineering and quality assurance teams have been involved since the inspection process began.

“From the very start of this process, our engineering and quality assurance teams have been on the ground with the KAI Commuter team to ensure that every component, including the bogies and propulsion system, is functioning optimally. We fully support this process to ensure the reliability and safety of the rolling stock,” said Nanang.

According to him, INKA’s involvement is part of the company’s commitment to maintaining the quality and reliability of the rolling stock used in Commuter Line operations.

During the General Check-Up, INKA will continue to coordinate with KAI Commuter. This coordination is intended to ensure that all trainsets manufactured by INKA meet safety standards while also providing comfort for passengers.

“For us, this is a form of our responsibility as a manufacturer and of synergy within the railway ecosystem, with the aim of improving product quality for the comfort and safety of Commuter Line users,” Nanang concluded.
