INKA Breaks Silence After 17 KRL Services Cancelled Due to Train Maintenance
KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has reduced the number of electric rail (KRL) services on the Bogor-Jakarta Kota route until the end of September owing to fleet maintenance. PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero), or INKA, is responsible for maintaining the problematic KRL units.
Nanang Agung Rohmandiyas, Senior Manager of Corporate Communication and Representative Office at PT INKA, said the company had deployed its own personnel to carry out maintenance on the iE305 KRL series manufactured by INKA. According to him, the inspection was conducted to ensure all components were working properly.
“Since the process began, our engineering and quality assurance teams have been on the ground together with the KAI Commuter team to ensure every component, including bogies and the propulsion system, is functioning optimally. We fully support this process to guarantee the reliability and safety of the rolling stock,” Nanang said in a joint statement by KCI and INKA on Tuesday (8/9/2026).
He affirmed INKA’s commitment to the quality and reliability of the products used in KRL services. As part of the general check-up process, INKA will continue to coordinate with KCI to ensure all trainsets produced meet safety and comfort standards for passengers.
“For us, this is a form of responsibility as a manufacturer and synergy within the railway ecosystem. Naturally, the aim is to improve product quality for the comfort and safety of Commuter Line users,” Nanang said.
Meanwhile, VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, explained that 17 KRL services had been adjusted due to fleet maintenance. The departures were adjusted in the morning, afternoon and evening.
“We are currently carrying out intensive maintenance of the existing KRL trainsets for the safety and security of journeys,” Karina said.
The cancellation schedule covers seven services from Bogor/Cilebut/Depok to Manggarai/Jakarta Kota and five services from Jakarta Kota to Bogor in the morning, as well as two services from Manggarai to Bogor and three services from Bogor in the afternoon.
With the adjusted departure schedule, KCI began operating 1,048 services across the entire Jabodetabek Commuter Line network yesterday. Previously there were 1,065 services each day.
Karina said the KRL trains used daily by passengers for mobility must be maintained in order to optimise services. This was carried out as part of KCI’s commitment to the safety and security of KRL passengers’ journeys.
“We understand there will certainly be inconvenience for Commuter Line users during this maintenance process. We apologise for the disruption caused,” Karina said.
“We urge passengers to readjust their travel schedules,” she added.
