Injury Toll in Iran Rises to 260 Amid Escalation with US

Tehran - The number of wounded in Iran has risen to 260 amid the latest escalation with the United States, a health ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday. On 11 July, the Iranian Health Ministry reported that 17 people had been killed and 115 others injured in US strikes that began on 8 July. ‘In the latest wave of military escalation against our country, the number of injured has so far reached more than 260, including three women and six individuals under the age of 18,’ ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour wrote on social media platform X. He did not provide an update on the death toll. Since 8 July, the US military has launched several waves of strikes against Iran. US Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed the attacks were in response to Iranian interference with commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran subsequently retaliated by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. On 12 July, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until the United States ends its involvement in the region.
