Injury Toll in Iran Rises to 260 Amid Escalation with US

Tehran (ANTARA) - The number of injured in Iran as a result of the latest escalation with the United States has risen to 260 people, said Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour on Wednesday.

On 11 July, the Iranian Health Ministry reported that 17 people had been killed and 115 others injured as a result of the American attacks that began on 8 July.

“In the latest wave of military escalation against our country, more than 260 people have so far been injured, including three women and six people under the age of 18,” Kermanpour wrote on the social media platform X.

He did not provide an update on the death toll.

Since 8 July, the United States military has launched several waves of attacks against Iran. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed the strikes were carried out in response to Iranian interference with commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran subsequently retaliated by launching attacks on US military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.

On 12 July, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until the United States ended its involvement in the region. The announcement was made amid continued exchanges of attacks between the two countries.
