Injured detainee flees hospital
SERANG, West Java: The police are searching for an injured detainee who escaped from the hospital where he was undergoing medical treatment.
The detainee, identified as Jali, 33, sneaked out from the hospital on Friday night after breaking the window in the bathroom adjacent to his cell, Antara reported yesterday.
Chief of Serang police precinct Lt. Col. Ridhwan Karim theorized that Jali might have been unable to resist his desire to celebrate Idul Fitri with his family.
He said Jali, who was detained after he was involved in a traffic accident last month, is one of the most wanted criminals in the regency, where he is suspected of taking part in many robberies.
Ridhwan said Jali had admitted to masterminding the murder of a man whose body was found in Ciruas in August, last year. (rms)
