InJourney: Six airlines interested in opening routes to Bandung's Husein Airport

State-owned PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), operating as InJourney Airports, has recorded that six airlines have expressed interest in opening scheduled jet flights at Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, as part of efforts to optimise the airport’s operations. Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney Airports, Arie Ahsanurrohim, stated that the airlines’ response to the plan to resume operations at Husein Sastranegara Airport has been quite positive. “The response to this government policy has been quite positive; we have noted that six airlines have expressed interest in opening scheduled jet flights in Bandung,” Arie said in a statement received in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday. He explained that a number of proposed domestic routes include Denpasar, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Pontianak, Padang, Lampung, Pekanbaru, Kualanamu, Makassar, and Palembang. Meanwhile, for international flights, the routes under discussion include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor Bahru. According to Arie, all route proposals will be coordinated with stakeholders to ensure they meet community needs while supporting regional economic growth. InJourney Airports is currently finalising various preparations so that Husein Sastranegara Airport can serve both domestic and international flights in accordance with the safety, security, and service standards set by the Ministry of Transportation. “Discussions regarding potential flight routes have been conducted with both domestic and international airlines. The response we have received has been very positive,” he said. To support operational readiness, InJourney Airports, together with the Ministry of Transportation, the West Java Provincial Government, the Bandung City Government, and the Indonesian Air Force, continues to strengthen coordination to meet all airport operational requirements. One step taken has been the addition of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting vehicles at Husein Sastranegara Airport to enhance rescue and firefighting service capacity in line with the jet aircraft operational category. Furthermore, the airport management has also increased Aviation Security personnel and optimised security screening facilities, including X-ray machines, walkthrough metal detectors, handheld metal detectors, CCTV systems, and other security devices. Arie stated that the resumption of flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport is expected to strengthen air connectivity, facilitate public mobility, and serve as a new driver for the tourism and economic sectors in West Java. “These routes are expected to accommodate the community’s mobility needs while strengthening the tourism and economic sectors, particularly in West Java,” he said.
